This picture strikes me as offering a perfect representation of some of the newer acquisitions in the book collection of the typical “mainstream” Generation X reader! I guess it could represent the collection of a rather high-functioning (but perhaps a bit “too mainstream”) Generation Y member. But, most of all, it cries out, “book club participant”… as in, those thousands of local book clubs which meet on a periodic basis to discuss the books their members have mutually agreed to read, as a group. I’ll bet this photo sparks a plethora of memories for many such people!
